Professor Katsuo Okumura from the Shibaura Institute of Technology performed a large scale Lightning Protection Effectiveness Comparison Test.  The test compared the performance of the Juraisin lightning rod vs. a conventional lightning rod.

Test Results

Conventional lightning rods are used today without experiments of comparative efficiency because no differences existed in the pointed tip of lightning rods.  However, as a result of the invention of Juraisin, Professor Katsuo Okumura, President of the Energy and Environmental Research Center of the Shibaura Institute of Technology’s Department of Advanced Engineering, performed a large scale Lightning Protection Effectiveness Comparison Test of a scale we believe not seen before. 

 

According to the results of these experiments, the protective efficiency of Juraisin was superior compared with conventional lightning rods, under conditions of identical striking distance.  In addition, flash over points (also called upward streamers) were very stable compared with conventional lightning rods.  Seventy percent of the electrical discharge was absorbed in generally the same area (Juraisin’s needle tip).  This can be attributed to the increase of upward streamers and the uniformity of the protective action.  Juraisin was judged as highly reliable in these experiments.

 

In addition, the results of Juraisin’s Protection Performance Test has a very high numerical value.  Even when objects requiring protection and of a nature easily receiving electric currents existed within identical striking distance, Juraisin displayed a significant protective ability (establishing a conducting path and receiving the electrical discharge).

 

Currently, over 500 Juraisin and Mini Juraisin air terminals have been installed and according to our long term yearly accident observations, we have not received any reports of accidents.  (As of September 2001)

 

Our company’s Juraisin demonstrated establishing a conducting path and receiving electric discharge, when objects requiring protection were in the field of the lightning striking distance.  In addition, our company’s Juraisin Lightning Protection System’s flow of grounding resistance reducing agent is described in the related section. 

 

At the time of the lightning current, according to the scientific multiplier effect and the ground that has been induced with electrical changes by the thundercloud, the electric currents concentrate at the Juraisin lightning rod and Juraisin Lightning Protection System.  The Juraisin Lightning Protection System has shown a higher effect in the natural world of establishing a conducting path and receiving the electrical discharge.
